My recommenders are having trouble with the online recommendation form.
Please give the below instructions to persons you are asking for a recommendation.
- Use this online recommendation form link.
- The student name is not searchable. You fill in the student’s name.
- To complete a recommendation for another student, you can use the link in the confirmation email you receive. If you use that link, your info will be pre-filled. Or you can just start over with the online recommendation form link.
On the fellowship application certification page, we are confused by the statement: "Tuition and fees for this student will or will not be waived." What does that mean?
This refers to the following requirement found in the fellowship description: “The Fellowship stipend may be used for a purpose decided by the awardee and college that will enable the student to make progress in their pursuit of the Ph.D., e.g., student stipend, laboratory supplies, books, materials, travel, etc. None of the funds shall be used for indirect costs by the institution.” The stipend cannot be used for tuition. The term “waived” means that someone else (i.e., college) is paying the tuition.
The university is closed and you have not received my transcript. Can I just send or upload an unofficial copy? Or, what do I do to meet the January 7 deadline?
I am in my third semester of PhD study now. Am I eligible?
An official transcript showing at least 3 semesters of PhD study with grades must be sent as part of your application. The only way a transcript is official is if it is sent directly to AFPE from the registrar by email or mail. We will exercise some flexibility in receiving the transcripts as we know some academic offices are closed, but we should receive it as soon as possible. Electronic transcripts can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.

I am enrolled in a PharmD/PhD program. Am I eligible?
Joint Pharm.D./Ph.D. students who have completed the equivalent of 3 full semesters of graduate credit toward the Ph.D. and will be awarded the Ph.D. degree within 3 additional years. Please see all eligibility requirements listed on each award’s eligibility page for full details.
Are there any awards offered for international students?
At this time, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply.
When are recommendations due?
January 7, 2015
May I include references in the research plan? Would the list of references count towards the word count limit for the section?
Yes, it counts in the word count. If it supports your case, you can consider including references, but keep in mind this may shorten the space available to describe your training plan because of the word limit on the section.
In what format should I list references, articles, publications, etc.?
Here is an example:
